Old City Flavors
Located in the winding streets heading towards Charminar, Laad Bazar is the “street of bangles” sold in tiny stores on both sides of the road. Though most bangles are made of glass or metal, Laad Bazaar is known for “lac” bangles. Lacquer and “lac” (looks like hard lacquer sealing wax) embedded with brilliant colored stones and sequins are sold. The lac bangles are local and it is exciting to see craftsmen melt sticks of wax (lac) and make a bangle as you watch. Be sure to buy plenty of bangles and oh yes, bargain hard!
This historical monument is the shopping centre of old Hyderabad. Within 2 miles radius of Charminar are spread stores of pearls, bangles, clothes, in short, it’s a woman’s paradise.
